Dr. Jack Dillenberg began his around the globe travels by visiting the campus of Sias International University in China near the Yellow River in north-central China to meet the school’s president, Shawn Chen, and the leadership of the University and in particular the leaders of the nursing school.
Sias International University is in the central plains of China in Zhengzhou, the capital city of the Henan Province recognized as “the first ancient capital of China.” Zhengzhou is regarded as the cradle of Chinese civilization.
Sias International University was established in 1998 by Dr. Shawn Chen, a Chinese-American, with a desire to “give back” and help others, as was his own experience. He had expressed an interest in developing preventive oral health courses for the nursing students and developing a dental clinic to provide care for students. The long-range planning thoughts are to develop a dental school similar to ASDOH.

From China Dr. Jack went on to Jordan where he visited with the leadership of the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST). While there, an agreement was signed between Lutheran Medical Center and JUST. It establishes a AEGD residency with a public health emphasis. Dr. Jack Dillenberg met with students, faculty and representatives from the dental community and embassies to discuss the upcoming program.
