The ATSU, ASDOH Dillenberg Center for Health Innovation and Technology is on schedule to open in November 2018

The design review team meets to discuss the PDS Innovation clinic plans.

The generosity of numerous dental industry companies, dental leaders and individual donors has led to the development of the new Dillenberg Center. The Center will focus on the use of innovative technology and the integration of oral health into primary care to improve patient health. ASDOH dental students and residents will begin to  use the new operatories and interdisciplinary area in the PDS Innovations Clinic in November while research opportunities continue to be explored.

In regards to his local activities, it appears that Dr. Jack Dillenberg has been elected to the Jerome Town Council. “Councilman” Dillenberg will serve with four other council members to represent Jerome’s 450 residents.

Though these are not yet the official results, it looks like Dr. Jack will be serving on the Jerome Town Council starting in November 2018.

Summer events keep Dr. Jack in Arizona

ASDOH’s class of 2022 begin their dental school journey with the traditional White Coat ceremony. Dr. Jack Dillenberg welcomed them on behalf of the American College of Dentists. ATSU President Craig Phelps took this opportunity to honor long-time ASDOH supporter Dr. Irv Silverstein with the inaugural Presidential Medallion.

During the week Dr. Jack Dillenberg participated in meetings to discuss and plan an innovative research project on value-based payments at the new Dillenberg Center for Health Innovation and Technology at ASDOH.

Dr. Jack Dillenberg returned to Jerome to celebrate with neighbors and friends at the summer Thanksgiving celebration.

The next day he participated as a candidate for Town Council in the League of Women Voters candidate forum. He ended the week by  hosting the Brighterway Institute Board summer meeting at his home in Jerome.

The AADMD 2018 annual meeting is held in Seattle, Washington

Dr. Jack participates in the AzSDA LEAD conference.

Prior to departing for Seattle, Dr. Jack Dillenberg was a featured speaker at the Arizona State Dental Association (AzSDA) LEAD conference.

As the Global Ambassador for the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry (AADMD), Dr. Jack Dillenberg attended the annual conference held in Seattle, Washington. He participated in the AADMD Institute Career Panel and was a speaker for a break-out session. While there, Dr. Jack had the opportunity to visit with the leadership of Special Olympics to discuss the upcoming games and his potential future involvement.

After a chilly, cloudy week, Dr. Jack Dillenberg was happy to return to Jerome and participate in the July 4th parade.

Toward the end of May, Dr. Jack Dillenberg gave the closing keynote address to participants of the  Northwest Regional Primary Care Association (NWRPCA) meeting. The meeting brought together community health center administrators and clinicians.

Dr. Jack Dillenberg spoke about the emerging accountable health care system which is becoming value-based. He also spoke about the importance of integrating oral health into primary care and better understanding the role of social determinants in predicting health status.

ASDOH class of 2018 events bring Dr. Jack Dillenberg to Phoenix

ASDOH’s 12th graduation brought Dean Emeritus, Dr. Jack Dillenberg to Phoenix for the various celebrations and events. The celebrations began with ASDOH’s traditional Awards Brunch which honored outstanding members of the Class of 2018. This extraordinary class was the first to have 100% pass rate on their clinical board exams. The class also included a large number of leadership award winners.

The Founders Ball gala, held that evening, brought together graduates, family members, faculty and donors to celebrate the graduates. The next day, commencement ceremonies held at the Mesa Arts Center featured Drs. William Liebow and Gene Jasper, senior faculty members at ASDOH as guest speakers for this momentous event. They gave relevant and insightful advice for the graduates.

ASDOH Dean’s Advisory Board Meeting Brings ATSU Leadership to NYC

The first event associated with the ASDOH’s Advisory Board was a dinner hosted by Stanley and Marion Bergman at their home. The evening brought together the dental industry board members and the leadership of Henry Schein and ATSU. It was a tremendous opportunity to share ideas and recommit to the mission of the school. The following morning, the board meeting, hosted by Henry Schein and held at the Harvard Club, focused on initial projects for the new Dillenberg Center for Health Innovation and Technology.

After his return to Phoenix, Dr. Jack Dillenberg proceeded to the OKU Induction Ceremony. The event acknowledged the outstanding achievements of the new inductees.

Phoenix-based meetings focus on integrating oral health into primary care

The First Oral Health Summit on the Transformation on Health Care and Finance brought together leaders from across the health-care industry in Phoenix. Presenters and participants had meaningful discussions to develop solutions to the many complex issues raised during the sessions.

Will Humble, former ADHS director and now the current AzPHA Executive Director, emceed the Empowerment Systems Luncheon Dr. Jack attended.

The following day, Dr. Jack Dillenberg attended the Empowerment Systems Luncheon. This event honors many individuals who provide meaningful assistance to many at-risk Arizonans. ASDOH is one of their key partners in providing health services.

The final Phoenix-based event gave Dr. Jack Dillenberg an opportunity to participate in a panel led by Mary Otto, author of the book Teeth which describes the current state of the oral health care system in America. The panel was part of the annual Health Journalism Conference. Health reporters from around the United States attended this event.

Dr. Jack Dillenberg and his wife Jamie, drove from Jerome, Ariz. to Santa Monica, Calif. to participate in the event honoring Dr. Bernie Weintraub and to chair the Center for Oral Health (COH) Board meeting. The Center for Oral Health and leaders in public health celebrated with Dr. Bernie for his dedication and service to the people of California, especially the elderly.

The next day, Dr. Jack Dillenberg led the COH Board meeting. The new dental clinic initiatives both in California and Florida were the focus of the discussion.

Dr. Jack Dillenberg joined Dr. Randy Danielsen at the Arizona State Association of Physician Assistants (ASAPA) annual spring CME conference held in Prescott, Ariz. They represented the Center for the Future of the Health Professions at ATSU. Their presentation focused on the integration of oral health and primary care. They presented clinical cases to the attendees and led a discussion regarding these cases. The PAs in attendance showed an interest in integrating oral health into their clinical practices. This included preventive as well as diagnostic work.

After spending a week in the warm climates of St. Thomas and Key West, Dr. Jack Dillenberg traveled to Chicago for the Oral Health America’s (OHA) 28th Annual Gala and Benefit. OHA honored him with their annual Tribute Award for his lifelong service to oral health. OHA remains constant in its mission to connect communities with resources to increase access to care, improve health literacy and advocate for policies that benefit all Americans, particularly the most vulnerable.

Over 600 attendees participated in the award celebration activities and showed their appreciation for his inspiring remarks with a standing ovation. The event provided Dr. Jack Dillenberg an opportunity to reconnect with many colleagues and friends from across the United States. Leaders from the dental industry, academia and associations provided a welcoming and heartfelt tribute to Dr. Jack Dillenberg’s career of community service, leadership and dental education. A number of participants generously contributed to the new Dillenberg Center for Health Innovation and Technology at ASDOH in appreciation of his lifelong commitment to the profession.
